He didn't belong out here- in the wilderness. In fact, he'd much rather be back at home, lying at his master's feet as they settled down for a late afternoon nap. But... master was gone, there was nothing left in that house for Kenji now- he had taken all that he could carry in his messenger bag.

His master had taught him most everything he knew. Back in the day, he had been a college professor, teaching rather complicated math. Even in his old age, he still liked to give lectures, teaching Kenji all sorts of different math formulas. Of course- he hadn't expected the dog to actually learn or even understand any of the concepts he spewed.

One day, he was having trouble solving a complex math problem. No matter how hard he tried, he could not solve it. He was about to give up when he noticed Kenji acting strange, pacing around the papers scattered about the floor. Every so often he would stop, giving one of the papers a sniff before continuing on. Then, after a few minutes, he finally stopped beside one of the pages and raised a paw. He would then wipe it across the page- as if crossing something out, and made a curve that pointed to two different lines of math, like he was switching two parts of the equation.

The retiree had no idea this was what the wolfdog was doing at first, putting the dog outside after scolding him. Then, after closer inspection, he discovered that Kenji had actually corrected it. He was amazed... somehow, he had taught his dog math... complex math...

Now that the old man was gone, Kenji didn't know what he'd do with all of his knowledge on math. It wasn't like he was a human and could use these skills to get a job or something... he was just a dog, viewed as nothing more than a dumb animal, despite being far from dumb.

These days, the wolfdog wandered from place to place. In the last town he had visited, he had heard of a place called BlizzardClan, a group of different animals who lived together. Quite intrigued by it, Kenji had decided to investigate, heading towards the direction in which an NPC had pointed him. Hopefully, this would lead him to the huge staircase- which was supposedly this clan's borderline or something like that. A staircase in the middle of nowhere though? He wasn't sure he believed that.

But oh- how wrong he was. There was a shocked expression on Kenji's face as he stared up the stone stairs. How... how was this possible? Shaking his head, he decided to push this to the back of his mind for now- he needed to focus. Taking a deep breath, he would quickly look around before speaking, voice coming out as a stammer. "Uh... e... excuse me! Um... is this BlizzardClan?"

Turning to Loveletter first, his imaginary eyebrows would furrow, head tipping to the side in confusion. "Wh... what?" Patrick? Was that their name? Or... was it a reference to something? Shaking his head, he decided to ask later, when he wasn't so tired from traveling here.

"Ah... s... sorry... i'm Kenji Koiso. Um... I was wondering if I could join BlizzardClan?" The wolfdog would finally answer, blinking his dark brown eyes.

[fancypost=border-width:0px; width: 450px; text-align: justify; font-size: 8pt; line-height: 125%]Spring had always been Kenji's favorite season- aside from Summer of couse. It meant that warmer months were ahead and it represented new beginnings.

The wolfdog had just arrived in camp when it began to rain, causing him to break into a run and take shelter in the closest empty hut. Once inside, he would shake himself off, letting his bag gently drop to the floor. He would then move back to the doorway, sitting down to watch the rain fall. He loved rain... just the smell of it put him at ease... but only for a minute. It didn't take long for his thoughts drifted back to the horrid memories of finding his master collapsed on the floor, the light in his eyes already fading...

A pain in his chest caused him to squeeze his eyes shut, stretching out his neck and raising head to the sky so the rain would fall on him. This calmed him down again... but he wondered... would he ever be able to forget?
